I just brought home my very own tri-colored pembroke welsh corgi yesterday. His name is Goron. (“Gore” for short) any advice for a new corgi parent?

We were big fans of crate training so we could sleep through the night. Also, be patient for the biting/barking storm that the youngsters go through. Buy a good vacuum and a deshedding brush.

At what age did you start taping Waffles’ ears and how long did you tape them for? We just got a corgi puppy who is 8 weeks old and I’m wondering at what point I should consider taping his ears up.

He was around 3-4 months I believe. They would occasionally pop up for a few minutes, so the tape just helped them along! You don’t HAVE to tape either.

No, Waffles was weird and was totally fine with the leash and collar. I think there were so many distractions outside he didn’t care anyway!

Waffles belongs to the Shedding Party. No running mates, Waffles doesn’t like running. They don’t have tax returns for Waffles, the amount of money he makes doesn’t fit on any form. His core values are: bones, shedding, being afraid of cats, eating, eating, and cuddling. Most importantly, his poops are very consistent.

There’s lots of rumors on the internet about how to help (calcium, yogurt, etc). Who knows. Taping worked for Waffles. Patience! One ear also came up about a week before the other woke up. He was about 4-5 months old when they came up. LOOK AT THIS.

I work at a veterinary clinic and we have a corgi that often boards with us. This particular corgi has to get a running start in order to get up the three stairs we have out back. Does waffles need a running start to get up stairs?

nope! Waffles is pretty much a pogo stick. He can hop up anything. He loves to sprint up stairs. I’m not sure how those stumpy legs work. All of a sudden a corgi just suddenly pops up onto the bed sometimes, scares the floof out of you.

This is a must have. Not sure how long the tail will last! (We recently had to put down Hammy)

LOOK at them. They are stumpy little sausages, how could you not want 7 of them? I wanted a corgi for years before getting one (have to have a nice place and a job, corgis don’t like college dorm rooms).

Waffles was at summer camp (grandparents house) for the week while we were on vacation. They have 2 dogs, so he had a blast!

We chose corgi because I’ve wanted one for years. They are just funny looking. We considered a rescue, but one of us wanted “the puppy experience”.

I’ve learned to make a lot of weird noises, animal noises, bird noises, robot noises…they get corgis attention.

I saw the video of Waffles ringing the bell to go potty, and how he did this on his own a while after you tried to train him to do it. When you were trying to train him, what did you do? I think it is quite clever to try to train a dog to do this.

Here it is. Every time we took him out, we just rang the bell ourselves. Then I started lifting his paw and making him hit it. Then he just started boopin it when he wanted to go out.

Like all corgis, he can be a butthole sometimes. But for the most part he’s pretty sweet. He only barks when he wants to play and you’re ignoring him. A lot has to do with how much time/effort you put into training. And every dog is different! He’s great with kids, goes into ears back cute mode and tries to lick their faces.

Waffles is at home while we both work during the day. It’s a little harder when they are puppies, because their wittle bladders are too small, so you should try to come home for lunch.

No, the car seat is not for him. He just likes to sit in it because it puts him up high. Usually on the way home he’ll curl up in it because it keeps him from sliding around while snoozin.

Watch out with that cone! My boy Pembroke has a grass allergy so he spends time in the cone during the spring to prevent paw-chewing, and he’s learned to use it as a tool/battering ram!

Thankfully he’s pretty much out of the cone now. But he was pretty good at bumping in to EVERYTHING.

Woofles gets brushed (outside) about twice a week, and the carpets get vacuumed once a week!
